At Petcurean, we're excited to share our journey towards a more sustainable future. Discover the key highlights from 2023, driven by our love for pets and our commitment to our planet.

We launched our recyclable kibble bags, with the goal for the majority to be recyclable by 2025.

We launched Go! Solutions Limited Ingredient Grain Free Insect Recipe, an eco-friendly pet food option using insect protein.

We accomplished the task of calculating our Scope 3 indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our value chain.

Tracking Our Carbon Pawprint

At Petcurean, we're committed to minimizing our carbon footprint for a better future for our pets. We reduced Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 40% in 2023 from our baseline year, through eco-friendly initiatives like switching our fleet to hybrid vehicles. We are also targeting Scope 3 indirect emissions by optimizing ingredient transportation, switching to recyclable packaging, and sourcing supplies locally.

Our journey continues with a commitment to sustainability for our pets and our planet.

Volunteering

Our new Volunteering Policy grants employees 20 work hours for community service, seamlessly integrated into our time-off system. In 2023, 55% of employees participated in volunteer service.

Promoting Truth and Reconciliation

Initial steps include cultural briefings, experiential learning sessions, and donating 80,500 meals of dog and cat food to First Nations communities.

Stakeholder Engagement

Initiatives include supplier assessments, product improvement programs, and engagement surveys to enhance our environmental and social performance.

Awards

Christine Mallier won the 2023 Global 50 Women in Sustainability Award. Petcurean earned the Ayres Philanthropy Award and Pet Age Power 50 Award, celebrating our impact in pet care and sustainability.

A Year of Orange-Hearted Donations

Standing strong when our communities need us most - whether facing floods, wildfires, or overflowing animal shelters - here are some of the ways we’ve supported communities from Haida Gwaii to Halifax, from Maui to Orlando:

• 2,453,840 meals donated to 764 rescues, shelters, and food banks

• 504 trees planted

• $522 donated to bee conservation

Petcurean is committed to transparency, ethics, and risk management. Some actions we've accomplished so far include: • We’ve published our 3rd Sustainability Impact Report, disclosed GHG emissions, and held employee training sessions on social and environmental issues. • We’ve updated our Anti-Bribery and Corruption policy with anonymous reporting, clear responsibilities, and monitoring. • As a proud member of the Pet Sustainability Coalition, we are proud to be an Accredited Business for the fourth year in a row, and recognized as a Top Performer for 2023-2024. • Our Customer Care Team consistently achieves an 80+ CSAT score, reflecting our dedication to excellent service.

We’re Making the Switch

Here’s some news that’s giving us all the zoomies. Petcurean is one of the first five companies to sign the Pet Sustainability Coalition’s Packaging Pledge. That means we’ve made the commitment to switch to recyclable packaging by 2025.
